Friday’s TV highlights


The Short List: The series that puts its snarky spin on the top 10 list looks at the “10 Most Awkward Celebrity Moments” (11 a.m. and 9 p.m. VH1).

Whale Wars: In a dramatic bid to change the game, Pete Bethune develops a way to poison the meat of dead whales in this new episode (9 p.m. Animal Planet).

Man, Woman, Wild: Take “Man vs. Wild” and throw in some marital tension and you’ve got this series, which features a former Special Forces survival expert and a TV journalist (Myke and Ruth Hawke) enduring four days and nights in some treacherous location. In this new episode, they’re stranded in the Mexican desert (9 p.m. Discovery).


Modern Marvels Essentials: The episode “Freight Trains” shows how they are built, organized and monitored (9 p.m. History). A second new episode follows loggers as they harvest trees and transport the wood to market (History).

Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town: The comedy troupe launches a new series (10 and 10:30 p.m. IFC).

Haven: Sketchy Audrey and Nathan (Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant) find themselves drawn into another eerie case when a local man is found mysteriously broken, bent and crumpled (10 p.m. Syfy).

Left at the Altar: This new series shares true stories of brides and grooms abandoned on the wedding day (10 p.m. TLC).



Class: Jodi Lyn O’Keefe and Justin Bruening star in this 2010 TV movie about a law student who bonds with a single mother while helping her find employment (9 p.m. Hallmark).


Little League baseball: World Series, Pool Play: Fairfield, Conn. vs. Auburn, Wash. (10 a.m. ESPN); Plymouth, Minn. vs. Pearland, Texas (noon ESPN); Germany vs. Puerto Rico (3 p.m. ESPN2); Japan vs. Mexico (5 p.m. ESPN2).


Exhibition football: The Philadelphia Eagles visit the Cincinnati Bengals (5 p.m. Fox).
