Home designer Marc Canadell has sold his house, his latest creation in the Bird Streets area of the Hollywood Hills, for $14 million.

The more than 9,000-square-foot, two-story home is perched at the end of a cul-de-sac and surrounded by pools and other water elements. It has views of downtown L.A., Century City, Malibu and the ocean. With its clean lines and sleek surfaces, the house is modern and minimal.

An interior atrium is planted with bamboo, 20-foot ceilings soar above the kitchen and walls of glass recede to bring the outdoors in. There are five bedrooms, including a 2,000-square-foot master suite, and eight bathrooms.

The more than an acre site has a 60-foot-long swimming pool with seating areas, fire pits and an outdoor projection system.

The original home was taken down to the foundation in this total remake. Property records show Canadell bought the site in 2006 for $2,725,000. The house came on the market a year ago at $17,995,000.

Canadell had a 15-year-plus career in advertisting as a graphic artist and creative director before he began designing homes in 2000.

The listing agent was Mauricio Umansky of Hilton & Hyland, Beverly Hills. Mia Trudeau of the same office represented the buyer.
