Hoping to make contact with a buyer

Academy Award-winning actress Jodie Foster has listed a home in Hollywood Hills West for $6.399 million.

The Spanish-style house, built in 1935, features a step-down living room with a cathedral ceiling, a screening room, a study, a courtyard swimming pool, five bedrooms, six bathrooms and 6,060 square feet of living space.

Foster, 50, gained recognition for her starring role in “Taxi Driver” (1978) at age 13. She won Oscars for “The Accused” (1989) and “The Silence of the Lambs” (1991). Foster starred in “Contact” (1997) and, more recently, the 2011 films “Carnage” and “The Beaver,” which she also directed.

She will star with Matt Damon in the sci-fi drama “Elysium,” due out in August.

$13.4 million alrighty with him

Actor-comedian Jim Carrey has sold his gated Malibu Colony retreat for $13.4 million.

The two-story contemporary beach house features an open plan living room, family room, dining room and kitchen that lead to an ocean-facing deck.

There are fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom. In all, the house has five bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms and 2,866 square feet of living space. A spa sits on the rooftop deck.

Carrey, 51, has starred in such films as “Ace Ventura” and its sequels, “The Truman Show” (1998), “Bruce Almighty” (2003) and “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” (2011).

Public records show he bought the property in 2002 for $9.75 million.

Janelle Friedman of Sotheby’s International Realty in Pacific Palisades was the listing agent.

Winging their way out of Bird Streets

Actors Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally have sold their house in Hollywood Hills West’s Bird Streets area for $9.97 million.

The contemporary sits behind walls on about a quarter of an acre. The 3,803-square-foot home has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and city views. There is a swimming pool.

Offerman, 42, has played parks department director Ron Swanson on “Parks and Recreation” since 2009. Mullally, 54, was a regular on “Will & Grace” from 1998 to 2006, had her own talk show and stars on the comedy “Childrens Hospital” (2008 to the present).

They own another house in the area.

Rory Barish of Keller Williams in Beverly Hills was the listing agent. Nousha Hagenbuch of Coldwell Banker’s Beverly Hills North office represented the buyer.

TV cop wants to cut a deal

Emmy-winning actor Dennis Franz has listed his estate in Montecito for sale at $7.65 million.

His New England-style home sits amid 250-year-old oak trees on 1.62 acres of what was once an avocado farm. The 6,000-square-foot home has six bedrooms, and a detached guest cottage contains two more bedrooms. Amenities include a swimming pool, a pool pavilion, an outdoor fireplace and a boccie ball court.

Franz, 68, is known for his long-running role as detective Andy Sipowicz on the series “NYPD Blue” (1993-2005). He was also in the cop drama “Hill Street Blues” (1983-87).

‘Real’ composer is in residence

Composer-music producer Michael Baiardi and his wife, Heather, have bought a house in Encino for $2.4 million.

The traditional Cape Cod-inspired home was built in the 1950s and recently remodeled. The half-acre of gated grounds include a main house, swimming pool, a spa, two cabanas, a circular driveway and a basketball court. There are six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a den, a gym and more than 5,100 square feet of living space.

Baiardi, 40, has composed music for films and TV shows that include “The Avengers,” “Magic Mike,” “The Taking of Pelham 123” and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

The couple also have a home in the Benedict Canyon area.

Craig Knizek of the Agency was the listing agent. Brian Joy of California Prudential Beverly Hills represented the buyer.

‘E.T’ writer phones realty agents

Screenwriter Melissa Mathison has listed her Malibu home for sale at $9.995 million.

The gated villa sits on more than an acre of park-like grounds with coastline and ocean views. The Zen-inspired house features six bedrooms, five bathrooms and 3,940 square feet of living space. The property has 84 feet of ocean bluff frontage and deeded beach access.

Mathison, 63, wrote “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” (1982) and “Kundun” (1997). She is a former wife of actor Harrison Ford.

The property previously sold in 2003 for $5.8 million, public records show.
