Share

Like the independent Wanted Design show that ran concurrently with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York last month, the inaugural Parachute Market is set to launch this weekend blocks from the Dwell on Design expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Presented by the vintage furniture and design shop Storefront, the marketplace is intended to be a quarterly outlet for furniture, accessories, fine art and decorative arts by local designers.

Prolific designer Tanya Aguiñiga said she will be selling furniture, accessories and weavings at the event. Other draws include lighting by Brendan Ravenhill, furniture and accessories by Scout Regalia, Peter Shire pottery, limited-edition pillows and scarves by Wolfum and Tracy Wilkinson ceramic planters. Want more? How about Jim Olarte, Alma Allen and 100xbetter, among others.

The theme is “Psychedelic Summer,” which has inspired some designers to add some psychedelic flavor to their work. Chef Amelia Posada, co-founder of Lindy & Grundy meats, is to stage a food market.

Parachute is scheduled to run noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at 405 Mateo St., Los Angeles. Admission is $8.
