Los Angeles Times Festival of Health to Offer "Something for Every Part of Your Body"
Free Sept. 16-17 event at USC to feature health panels, fitness workshops, cooking/sports demonstrations, interactive activities, on-site health screenings

Saturday, Sept. 16, and Sunday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

University of Southern California University Park Campus, Los Angeles

Admission:
Free. On-campus public parking is available for $5.

More than 100 health experts and over 35 panel discussions, workshops

Keynoters:
-- Maureen Reagan, nationally recognized lecturer, political analyst and Alzheimer's health care advocate
-- David Hyde Pierce, Alzheimer's Assn. spokesman and actor best known for his role as Niles Crane on the NBC hit series, "Frasier"

Olympic Tribute:

-- Free: Asthma, cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, bone density, as well as macular degeneration, which can cause blindness; breast examinations; mother and child wellness exams; oral health; prescription evaluations; and pregnancy tests
-- Available for modest fees: Osteoporosis heel screenings and hip and spinal scans

-- Ski simulator used by USC’s Center for Athletic Medicine will teach the proper techniques that avoid injuries while improve skiing and snowboarding skills
-- Surgical training simulator lets volunteers try their hand at the tools used to train surgeons and medical students for laparoscopic surgery
-- An 85-foot-long Iron Man challenge course featuring tunnel crawls, squeeze plays and obstacle walls
-- Twin Peaks, at 35 feet high, the largest portable rock climbing wall in the country
-- Slap-shot hockey, fastball pitching and grand-slam batting cages
-- Gatorade S.W.E.A.T. Force basketball relays and hoop toss competitions
