Oscar Gonzalez was 18 of 24 for 216 yards with four touchdown passes and wide receiver Carlos Gaxiola had five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown plus three carries for 67 yards and another score to lead Bell (2-0-1) over visiting Lincoln (1-2). Wide receiver Alber Loza added five receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown for Bell.

Crespi 26, Sylmar 7
Junior Randle Harris had a blocked punt and two touchdowns to lead Crespi (3-0) over Sylmar (1-2).

Gardena 50, Franklin 12
Jason Lewis returned a punt return for a touchdown and Chris Green ran for three scores as Gardena (3-0) scored 35 unanswered points in the second half to go onto the easy victory at home.

Lewis broke open a tight game when he took a punt at the Panthers’ 46-yard line, reversed field and went up the left sideline to give them a 23-12 lead. Green, who had 172 yards on 14 carries, turned the game into a rout when he scored on runs of 32 and 59 yards on consecutive possessions.

Gardena finished with 431 yards, 364 of which came on the ground.”Last week was such a tough game because of the heat and I thought we lost a little bit of our confidence,” Gardena Coach Marshall Jones said of the Panthers’ 20-13 victory over Van Nuys Grant. “I thought we got a little bit of our swagger back. I think we’re capable of being much better on defense.”

Franklin (1-2) kept the game close in the first half on two touchdown passes by quarterback Keith Hale.

Granada Hills 35, San Fernando 6
Brandon Charls threw touchdown passes to Darion Donnelly and Keith Brown, and tailback Gilbert Linton ran for two touchdowns for host Granada Hills (3-0).

L.A. Jordan 21, Washington 12
Senior tailback Jesse Murry had seven carries for 196 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 65 and 90 yards to lead L.A. Jordan (2-1) past visiting Washington (0-3). On defense, cornerback Thomas Kirby returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and senior defensive end Rayshawn Riley recorded 10 tackles, three sacks and forced a fumble for Jordan. Tristan Scott was 8-14 for 138 yards and a touchdown and caught a 7-yard score and wide receiver Travis Sterling caught three passes for 84 yards including a 47-yard touchdown for Washington. Tristan Taylor had 15 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and Lemuel Jackson had eight tackles and three sacks for the Generals.

L.A. Marshall 29, Sun Valley Poly 10
Junior James Wilson rushed for two scores and caught a 60-yard touchdown and senior Denis Lemus returned an interception 63 yards for a touchdown to lead L.A. Marshall (3-0) over visiting Sun Valley Poly (0-2-1).

L.A. University 12, Fremont 12
LaRue Zamarano of University (2-0-1) scored on an 80 yard touchdown run to tie the game 6-6 with five minutes left in the first half. Greg Walker caught a 28 yard touchdown pass from Jason Robinson to tie the game again for University with eight minutes left to play. The ensuing point after attempt was blocked. Fremont (2-0-1) scored on their opening drives of each half.

Locke 24, South Gate 21
Locke capitalized on a free play with no time on the clock and kicked a 21-yard field goal to beat South Gate (1-2). As Locke (1-2) tried to get a field goal off with eight seconds remaining, South Gate drew a penalty for having 12 players on the field. Senior Marco Vasquez had 198 yards in 33 carries for host South Gate.

Los Angeles 25, Palisades 18
Chris Bowen caught three passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 56-yard interception return for the host Romans (3-1). Bowen scored on a 59-yard halfback pass from Douglas McKenna in the second quarter and added a 50-yard scoring reception from Terrion Ware for a 25-12 lead with 4:58 to play. Brandon Brown led Los Angeles with 150 yards in 20 carries. Ellis Anderson rushed for 215 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown run, in 17 carries and Andre Harris added 97 yards in 17 carries for the Dolphins (2-1), who led, 12-10, at halftime.

Robert Miller had 16 rushes for 88 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Bo Napoleon was six for nine passing for 195 yards and three touchdown to lead Carson (2-1) over Redondo (1-2). Trent Charles added two receptions for 113 yards including a 69-yard touchdown catch for Carson.

Culver City 62, L.A. Hamilton 0
Quarterback Michael Bumpus gained 136 yards on eight carries including touchdown runs of 1, 24, and 45 yards. Bumpus also passed for 102 yards for Culver (3-1). Hamilton drops to 1-2.

Dominguez 77, Manual Arts 6
Seven different players scored nine touchdowns on 21 offensive plays for Dominguez (3-0), and rolled up 344 yards against 191 for Manual Arts (0-2) who also had six turnovers. Rafael Gonzalez set a Dominguez school record with his 11th consecutive PAT without a miss.

L.A. Wilson 33, Alhambra 19
Chris Patino completed 22 of 34 passes for 420 yards and three touchdowns to lead host Wilson (2-1) to the victory over Alhambra (1-2). Abraham Venegas caught eight passes for 172 yards, and Victor Lopez recorded 20 tackles for Wilson.

Ryen Carew ran for 315 yards and three touchdowns as Verdugo Hills (1-2) won in Glendale.

Cleveland 41, Monroe 6
Clyde Griffin rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns in 15 carries and had an interception on defense for Cleveland (2-1). Griffin scored on runs of 59, 36 and 60 yards and had a 56-yard touchdown called back on a holding penalty. Julius Killings added 79 yards and two first-quarter touchdowns in 12 carries for Cleveland, which gained 399 yards in 42 running plays. Chris Richards rushed for 96 yards in 20 carries, including a 21-yard touchdown run that gave Monroe (1-2) a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.

Mira Costa 17, Wilmington Banning 7
Tyler Pringle was a force on both sides of the ball as he led the Mustangs (3-0) to a tough victory at Mira Costa.

Pringle rushed for a game-high 170 yards on 26 carries and scored a touchdown in winning the individual battle with Banning running back Patrick Perry. He also led the Mustang defense with nine solo tackles (seven assisted) in controlling the highly-touted senior.

“He’s been the heart and soul of the team,” Mira Costa Coach Don Morrow said. “He’s been the leader all along.”

Perry was never able to break a big run and finished with 75 yards on 20 carries. In the first two games, the tailback had 593 yards and seven touchdowns.

He also lost a critical fumble in the fourth quarter, which the Mustangs’ Brian Jackson recovered.

“It was just a hard-fought game where the team with the least amount of mistakes won,” said Banning first-year Coach Mike Alexander.

Mira Costa took advantage of a fumbled opening kickoff by Banning as quarterback Brian Seidensticker’s one-yard plunge made it 7-0. The Pilots (2-1) tied it later in the quarter on Robert Martinez’s one-yard sneak but the Mustangs took the lead for good before halftime on a 12-yard touchdown run by Pringle.
