Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Soledad, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning 18 miles from Soledad, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:38 a.m. PST at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 22 miles from Greenfield, Calif., 23 miles from Hollister, Calif., 27 miles from King City, Calif., and 137 miles from Sacramento.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
