Angels fall to Dodgers, 5-0, in spring game

Share

Dodgers 5, Angels 0

AT THE PLATE: Top prospect Mike Trout grounded a single up the middle in the first inning for his first hit of the spring. But the Angels, playing a lineup consisting primarily of rookies, managed just three other singles while striking out 11 times. They did run the bases well, though, with Andrew Romine swiping two bases in the fifth and Chris Pettit and Jean Segura stealing one each.

ON THE MOUND: Scott Kazmir gave up three runs in two innings but pronounced himself pleased with his command and mechanics, two things that plagued him last season. Four relievers followed, combining to hold the Dodgers to two runs and three hits over six innings. Fernando Rodney pitched a scoreless inning in which he struck out two.

UP NEXT: Joel Pineiro faces the Athletics and Dallas Braden at Tempe at noon PST Monday.

ON THE AIR: TV: FSW. Radio: 830.
