Former USC assistant coach and Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian is now the man in charge of the Trojans football program.

Popular interim coach Ed Orgeron is gone.

That all went done Monday, obviously an emotional day for everyone involved with the program.

Many fans were upset that Orgeron, who led the Trojans to a 6-2 record after taking over for Lane Kiffin earlier this season, didn’t become the permanent coach (see the comment section of any of The Times’ USC stories over the last 24 hours for evidence).

Some players took it hard as well. “Felt like I just lost my father,” defensive tackle George Uko wrote on Twitter.

Sarkisian had plenty of supporters as well -- the most important of which, of course, was USC Athletic Director Pat Haden. “We kept coming back to Sark,” Haden said. “I believe in my gut that he is the right coach for USC at this time.”

Now that 24 hours or so have passed since the news came out, how do you feel about the decision? Did Haden make the right choice in going with Sarkisian? Please vote in the poll and leave a comment letting us know why.
