Moving day: Kings make more roster cuts

An expected series of roster cuts was made Saturday by the Kings, getting their training camp down to a more manageable number.

There are 34 players left in camp.

Heading to their minor-league affiliate in Manchester, N.H., are goalies Martin Jones and J.F. Berube, defensemen Colin Miller, Alex Roach and Nicolas Deslauriers, centers Andy Andreoff, Jordan Weal and Robert Czarnik, right wing Brian O’Neill and left wing Maxim Kitsyn.

Going back to his junior team -- Baie-Comeau of QMJHL -- is right wing Valentin Zykov. Zykov was drafted by the Kings in June, going 37th overall in the second round as they traded three picks to Edmonton in order to move up in the draft to take the young Russian.

Additionally, the Kings assigned four players to Manchester’s training camp: goalie Mathias Niederberger, defenseman Vincent LoVerde and right wings Cameron Maclise and Scott Sabourin. Sabourin, in particular, made a favorable impression. But at this stage, the physical 21-year-old simply needs to play -- a lot -- and Manchester will best afford him that opportunity.
