Ex-USC basketball player Byron Wesley reportedly exploring options
Former USC basketball player Byron Wesley, who announced last week that he would graduate this summer and transfer for his final season of eligibility, has been contacted by seven schools, he told USCFootball.com.
Wesley, a guard who was the Trojans’ leading scorer last season, told reporter Chris Swanson that he had been contacted by Indiana, Baylor, Michigan State, Gonzaga, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Providence.
“I’m still trying to narrow down my list right now and take a few official visits,” Wesley told Swanson. “I want to check out some schools, meet the coaches, players on the team and everyone. I want to go where I feel most comfortable and not rush anything.
“Hopefully I’ll set some visits in the next couple of weeks and go from there.”
The 6-foot-5 Wesley averaged 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds last season for a USC team that finished 11-21 and 2-16 in the Pac-12 Conference under first-year Coach Andy Enfield.
Wesley was suspended for two late-season games for violating an unspecified team rule.
In a statement that was posted on USC’s website after Wesley announced he was transferring, Enfield thanked him for his contributions to the program and wished him well.
