Colin Kaepernick learns it’s not OK for 49ers QB to wear Dolphins cap

Colin Kaepernick has once again posted a photo of himself on Instagram wearing team gear -- only this time it’s for the right team.

The San Francisco quarterback caused a stir among 49ers fans last week when photos surfaced of him wearing a Miami Dolphins cap.

He probably didn’t do himself any favors by then posting a photo of himself holding the accessory, along with this defiant caption:

“This the hat y’all mad at? I’m goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won’t let me in the building! #ridiculous #y’allmustbebored”

Even ESPN analysts Ron Jaworski and Herm Edwards took offense at Kaepernick’s fashion statement.

“Steve Young and Joe Montana wouldn’t do that. They get it,” Edwards said. “You’re the quarterback. You are the face of the franchise, and whether you like it or not, on the field or off the field, you’ve got to act that way.”

I’m not a 49ers fan, so the hat and the caption didn’t bother me at all. But I would give anything to wipe that smug look right off Kaepernick’s face ...

Anyhow, maybe someone actually did change the locks at the 49ers’ practice facility because on Tuesday Kaepernick posted two more photos of himself, this time wearing a Niners’ cap and a “Golden State” tank top in team colors.

The caption was still slightly defensive -- “It’s just swag it ain’t never hurt nobody! #GoldenStateofMind” -- but the Dolphins gear and the smug look are gone, so everyone should be happy.
