Scottsdale, Ariz.: Celebrate your birth year with W hotel special
Party like a celebrity at the W Scottsdale, then shop ‘til you drop at the Arizona desert city’s chic and trendy boutiques. The hotel, located in Old Town Scottsdale, is modern and hip, with a restaurant, spa and three bars, including a rooftop lounge and pool complete with cabanas and sand.
The deal: If you hate your age, W Hotel Scottsdale has a deal that will make you smile. You can pay your birth year on the second night of a two-night stay. Born in 1970? That means you’ll pay $70 for that night.
First night prices start at $199. You’ll need to arrive Thursday or Saturday and the offer is pre-paid and non-refundable. The second-night rate is confirmed when you show a valid ID at the welcome desk upon arrival.
When: The Pay-Your-Birth-Year special is valid through Dec. 30.
Tested: I checked availability on a room with a king bed or a double and couldn’t find a first-night rate less than $279; most were $319 or more. I was able to book the package on Oct. 18 (a Thursday) for $349 for my first-night stay (or I could book it on Oct. 20, a Saturday, for $409 for my first-night stay.) Using 1970 as a birth year, I would pay an additional $70 for the second night.
The rates don’t include tax or parking, which is $10 for self-park or $26 for valet.
