Author E.L. James is whipping up a new book about Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, although the plot will seem awfully familiar to fans of the bondage-themed erotica novels.

The new book is a retelling of the second book in the series, “Fifty Shades Darker,” told from Christian Grey’s point of view, apparently called “Fifty Shades Darker From Christian’s Point of View.”

In a Sept. 10 Facebook post — Ana’s birthday — James teased two pages of the narrative.

“I know you’re anxiously awaiting the trailer, and that’s happening... soon,” James wrote, referring to the “Fifty Shades Darker” movie scheduled for release next year. “In the meantime, in honour of Ana’s birthday, there’s this.”

The excerpt from the new book follows Christian Grey, the Seattle billionaire with a taste for sadomasochistic sex, as he waits in a car outside his ex-lover Anastasia’s office building. “Opening my eyes, I stare at the front door through the Audi’s darkened glass that now reflects my mood,” the excerpt reads. “Nothing turns out as I expect with Miss Anastasia Steele. Panic knots my stomach once more.”

The original three “Fifty Shades” books were told from the point of view of Anastasia “Ana” Steele, a college student who has a complicated — and kinky -- relationship with entrepreneur Christian Grey.

Last year, James released “Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian,” which told the story of the trilogy’s first book from Christian’s perspective. Despite largely negative reviews, James’ fans snapped the book up — it sold more than 1 million copies in a week, and has garnered more than 13,000 Amazon customer reviews, most of them positive.

The “Fifty Shades” books quickly became a publishing phenomenon after the first novel in the series was released in 2011, selling more than 100 million copies across the world, and spawning a hit 2015 film starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

The “Fifty Shades Darker” movie opens in February 2017. The next book might be coming next year, too; a note at the bottom of the excerpt in her Facebook post just reads “coming 2017 (hopefully).”

James, who could be worth as much as $50 million, just bought a $7.25 million mansion in West Hollywood, Trulia reports.
