Times Test Garage: 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
From Ginger-Ale to Cabo Bronze, the Times Test Garage welcomes in a new vehicle this week. After handing back last week’s greenish 2013 Ford Fusion, we welcome in a brownish 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport AWD 2.0T.
The Santa Fe Sport is Hyundai’s midsize crossover SUV, and it counts among its competitors vehicles such as the Ford Flex, Toyota RAV4 and Chevrolet Equinox. The “Sport” in the name denotes that it’s a five-passenger SUV. A longer, seven-passenger Santa Fe model will debut at next month’s L.A. Auto Show, and Hyundai will stop making its previous SUV, the Veracruz.

Sport models come with one of two engines, and our tester came with the more powerful version. It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinder that makes 264-horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed transmission is your only option.
Our loaded tester will run you a total of $35,925, including destination. Here’s a rundown of what you get:
Base Santa Fe Sport 2.0T: $28,525
All-wheel drive: $1,750
Leather and Premium package: $2,450 (includes items such as leather seats that are heated in the front and rear, backup camera, dual climate control and sliding and reclining rear seats).
Technology package: $2,900 (includes a panoramic sunroof, navigation system with eight-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel and a 12-speaker, 550-watt sound system)
Floor mats: $100; cargo net: $50; cargo cover: $150
