Hidden gem: Tracking down a trustworthy jeweler
Chanel has a bunch of jewelry that she doesn’t wear. She wants to know how she can find a trustworthy jeweler to sell it to.
Not the worst problem to have. The trick, of course, is the trustworthy part.
Jewelers are like any other tradespeople. There are some who are reliable and honest, and some who are, well, not so much.

As with finding trustworthy plumbers or contractors, the best bet is always word of mouth. Ask your friends or neighbors if they can recommend anyone.
Also check trade groups, such as Jewelers of America. They have lists of certified shops.
Finally, take a few pieces of jewelry and make the rounds of reputable-looking shops. This will give a sense of what the market is offering. Hopefully you’ll also come across a jeweler who’s worthy of your trust.
