Actress-singer Aly Michalka of ‘iZombie’ buys a hip indoor-outdoor retreat in Hollywood Hills

Actress-singer-model Aly Michalka of the crime comedy series “iZombie” has bought a retreat in Hollywood Hills West for $965,000.

The 1956 home was built using post-and-beam construction in which bulky pieces of wood are used rather than the standard 2-by-4s. The effect here is that the flat-roofed home has strong horizontal lines. Clerestory windows, walls of glass and skylights seem to bring the outdoors in to the 1,118 square feet of open-plan living areas.

Bamboo floors, a fireplace, kitchen updates, a tankless water heater and covered parking are among other features.

A multilevel deck and an al fresco dining patio create more space for entertaining at the back of the two-bedroom, one-bathroom house.

Drought-tolerant landscaping and canyon views complete the setting.

Michalka, 26, sings and plays piano and guitar in 78violet with her sister. She starred on the Disney Channel series “Phil of the Future” (2004-06) and has since appeared on “Hellcats” and “Two and a Half Men.” The newlywed will be in the upcoming comic film “Killing Winston Jones” starring Richard Dreyfuss.
