The longtime home of film producer Irwin Allen and his wife, Sheila Mathews Allen, has come to market in Malibu at about $8 million.

Fronting La Costa Beach, the three-story residence features a kitchen, a dining room, a family room with a wet bar and a spa room in more than 3,200 square feet of living space. On the main floor, a double-high living room with floor-to-ceiling glass and a fireplace gives way to a large ocean-facing deck. The master suite occupies the entire third floor.

Elsewhere on the beachfront property are a pair of enclosed garages and a motor court.

Irwin Allen, who died in 1991 at 75, pioneered the science fiction and disaster film genres with such titles as “The Lost World” (1960) and “The Towering Inferno” (1974). His television credits include “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” and “Land of the Giants.”
