Former Dodger Mark Grudzielanek bids farewell to ocean-view town home in Cardiff

Retired Major Leaguer Mark Grudzielanek, whose MLB career included five years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has parted ways with his oceanview town home in the Encinitas beach community of Cardiff-by-the-Sea.

The home sold in December for $1.56 million, or about $230,000 less than the original asking price.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom Craftsman-style house was built in 2002 and sits two blocks from the beach.

Hardwood floors, stonework and vaulted ceilings are common across 2,319 square feet of interiors.

The main level holds a dining area, step-down living room and remodeled kitchen with white cabinetry and a center island. Two balconies, including one accessed by the master bedroom, offer views of the ocean.

Public records show Grudzielanek bought the home for $1.4 million in 2015.

Travis Chatwin of Aaron Roth Real Estate handled both ends of the deal.

Grudzielanek, 47, spent time with the Expos, Cubs, Cardinals, Royals and Indians in addition to his five years with the Dodgers. He earned an All-Star appearance in 1996, and clubbed 2,040 hits — 391 of them doubles — during his baseball career.
