Merv Griffin’s former ranch, Hawkridge, in Carmel Valley is for sale at $5.975 million.

Set on 57 acres, the compound has been restored and updated as a retreat with a 2,000-square-foot glass-walled main building, cottages and guest suites. The 9,378 square feet of living space includes 10 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and four half baths.

The main building has a living room, dining areas that can seat two dozen, a kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace and valley views.

Notable guests during Griffin’s tenure included actors Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart. Eva Gabor and Lucille Ball once lounged around the solar-heated swimming pool.

A recent addition is a 2,230-square-foot entertainment center with a game room, an indoor-outdoor wet bar and a 14-seat theater with a 120-inch screen.

Two acres of terraced vineyards produce AlpacaRidge Sauvignon Blanc and HawkRidge Pinot Noir labels. Another four acres of vines can be planted on additional terraces.

There are rose gardens, fields of lavender, organic vegetable gardens, orchards and berry bushes.

Griffin, who died in 2007 at 82, was a talk show host, a television producer and a singer. He created the game shows “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune.”

Doug Steiny of Carmel Realty Co. is the listing agent.
