Retired professional football player Mike Wahle has completed the handoff of his La Jolla home, selling the ocean-view property for $6.075 million.

Found in the Lower Hermosa area, the early 1900s Spanish Colonial was renovated in 2009 and contains a world of standout features: a custom coral reef aquarium, a hand-blown glass chandelier and a 1950s bomb shelter that was converted into a tasting room and a 1,600-bottle wine cellar.

Large formal areas done in dark walnut floors and custom molding include a living room with a fireplace, a family room, an office, a wet bar and an open-plan kitchen. A total of five bedrooms and eight bathrooms are within 5,100 square feet of space.

Curving walls of glass take in sweeping ocean views, and an elevator services both floors.

Glass doors open to terraced patios extending off the first and second floors. A large patio, a play area and landscaping fill the backyard. A street-level garage has a car lift that lowers to a basement.

The house last changed hands in 2005 for $3.2 million, public records show.

Donna Medrea of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. Drew Auker of Ascent Real estate represented the buyer.

Wahle, a former offensive lineman, spent nearly a decade protecting Brett Favre’s blindside as a member of the Green Bay Packers. He also played for the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks, making one Pro Bowl in 2005.

The 39-year-old has since moved on to more entrepreneurial endeavors, launching Crowd Cam, a social media start-up geared toward athletes and sports teams.
