Screenwriter and producer Rob Thomas of ‘Veronica Mars’ fame has bought a traditional-style home in Encino for a little over $4 million.

Set behind gates on more than a third of an acre, the two-story house has a classic look with a dutch-gabled roof and gray-hued siding accented by white trim.

Recently renovated in a more contemporary style, the 7,800-square-foot interior space features a vaulted entry that opens to a formal living room with a drop-down projection screen. Other living areas include a formal dining room and a center-island kitchen that connect via a butler’s pantry/wet bar.

The master suite has two walk-in closets and an oversized rain shower. There are a total of six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Walls of glass slide to reveal a large patio with a built-in barbecue. A swimming pool, a sports court, lawns and hedges fill out the backyard.

The house was more recently listed for sale at $4.299 million, records show. The exact sale price was $4,009,075.

Craig Knizek and Jon Grauman of the Agency were the listing agents. Peter Maurice of Rodeo Realty represented the buyer.

Thomas, 51, has television credits that also include the “90210” reboot as well as “Party Down” and “iZombie.” Two years ago, he directed and produced the “Veronica Mars” movie, an adaptation of the teen drama series he created in 2004.
