Hot Property: Vince Vaughn sells La Cañada Flintridge home
He’s so money.
Fresh off his run on HBO’s “True Detective” crime series, actor Vince Vaughn is keeping busy working on the upcoming war movie “Hacksaw Ridge” and taking care of some housekeeping. He just sold his La Cañada Flintridge home for $4.8 million.
The buyer? Michael Wright, the chief executive officer of DreamWorks Studios.
The newer Colonial-style house, which he bought three years ago for $3.925 million, sits behind gates on a three-quarter-acre lot surrounded by stretches of lawn and mature trees.
The neoclassical home, built in 2000, has a timeless appearance. Inside the front door, a grand two-story entry with a sweeping staircase sets a sophisticated tone that is carried throughout the house with such details as mahogany floors, ceiling medallions and detailed moldings.
A living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, a wood-paneled library, an office, five bedrooms and six updated bathrooms are within the white- and gray-walled 5,563 square feet of living space. The kitchen features an eat-at island, a breakfast area, a butler’s pantry and two dishwashers. The family room opens to a brick-covered patio.
Beyond the patio sits a saltwater swimming pool. A sports court completes the grounds.
Vaughn owns other residential properties in Southern California and in Chicago.
He’s also looking for new tenants for the Hollywood Hills West home he bought a couple of years back from “Superman Returns” actress Kate Bosworth.
The asking price is $12,500 a month.
Wright, 54, joined DreamWorks Studios in 2014. Prior to that, he was the president and head of programming at TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies.

All dressed up for $88 million
Here’s a blast from the heyday of network television. Maison du Solei, the Paul Williams-designed mansion in Holmby Hills that was once the home of TV writer and novelist Sidney Sheldon, is on the market at $88 million.
That’s a $3-million price increase from last year when fashion designer Max Azria first put the trophy home up for sale. He has reportedly spent millions dressing the place up. Among the stellar amenities are a lavish Moroccan bathhouse with a steam shower and sauna that opens to a zero-edge pool; a glass-encased tennis court; and a 6,000-square-foot home movie theater with a candy bar.
Set on three acres, the 60-room estate blends classic architecture with contemporary design in some 30,000 square feet of living space. There are 17 bedrooms and 22 bathrooms within the compound.
The grounds include a Japanese Zen garden, an English garden, a French courtyard with a free-standing fireplace and a Moroccan garden.
Azria, 67, founded BCBG Max Azria and is chairman of BCBG Max Azria Group.
He bought the property for $14.4 million in 2005 from Sheldon, who was known for such hit shows as “I Dream of Jeannie” (1965-70) and “Hart to Hart” (1979-84).

Galecki proves the big-buck theory
“The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki has sold his house in Hollywood Hills West to fashion personalities Joe Zee and Rob Younkers for $2.501 million. That’s 25% above his asking price of $1.995 million. Hmm … can you say bidding war?
The hideaway sits on more than a third of an acre. An angular wood deck with a fire pit juts out beyond the swimming pool and spa where an opening in the greenery reveals city light views.
The updated white-walled interiors belie the one-story bungalow’s 1950s origins. Hardwood floors unify the 1,700 square feet of open-concept living space; a wall of glass doors brings natural light inside.
A living room with a fireplace, a dining area, a media room, two bedrooms and two bathrooms make up the living spaces. A vintage stove takes center stage in the otherwise modern kitchen with white cabinetry. The master suite features a soaking tub and a walk-in closet.
Galecki, 40, bought the property from actor Patrick Dempsey more than a decade ago for $982,500, records show. Galecki sold because he purchased a Hollywood Hills home last year from action star Jason Statham for $9.2 million.
Zee is the editor in chief of Yahoo! Style. Younkers is a fashion designer and co-host of Logo TV’s “Secret Guide to Fabulous.”

Eric Burdon, the 1960s British Invasion vocalist who sang with the Animals and later the funk band War, is looking for a fan for his Joshua Tree retreat.
Priced at $888,888, the gated Southwestern-style ranch house was built in 2007 and sits on 2.5 acres enclosed by an adobe wall. There are panoramic views of the mountains and high desert.
The 3,120-square-foot-plus courtyard-style home features a great room with a barn-wood wall and corner fireplace, a studio with a wood-burning stove, an office, four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a laundry room and an office.
A heated saltwater pool, a spa, a rooftop deck above the four-car garage and solar panels are among other amenities.
Burdon, 74, listed the property a couple of years back for $999,000; he bought the place in 2007 for $640,000, public records show.

Actor Chris Hemsworth isn’t the only one from Down Under looking to say goodbye to L.A. Australian singer-songwriter and television personality Delta Goodrem has put her own home in the Hollywood Hills up for sale with a price tag of $4.199 million.
Perched on a raised lot above Cahuenga Pass, the gated Mediterranean-style house sits away from prying eyes on more than half an acre.
