Scott Forstall got what he deserved, another ex-Apple exec says

In case it wasn’t already clear, former Apple executive Scott Forstall wasn’t on any short lists to win the Mr. Congeniality Award at the Cupertino, Calif.-based giant.

But it seems that even after his sudden ouster in October, we have yet to truly plumb the depths of the unpopularity to which the former senior vice president of iOS had descended. In an interview with the BBC, former Apple exec Tony Fadell, known in Silicon Valley as the “father of the iPod,” had this to say about Forstall:

“Scott got what he deserved,” Fadell told the BBC. When pressed, he added: “I think what happened just a few weeks back was deserved and justified and it happened.”

Yowch.

Fadell left Apple two years ago, and is now co-founder of Nest, a smart-thermostat company. And clearly, the relationship between the two men is a chilly one at best.

Still, was Forstall really that abrasive? The guy who is credited with the popularity of the iPhone? Who oversaw the development of iOS? Are you sure, Mr. Fadell, that Forstall was really disliked that much? Fadell’s answer, according to the BBC:

“If you read some of the reports, people were cheering in Cupertino when that event happened.”
