"Freud's Last Session," the stage drama that imagines a meeting between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis, was a popular off-Broadway success in New York, opening in 2010 and running for close to 800 performances at two theaters.
Starting in January, the play will make its Los Angeles-area debut at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica starring
Tyler Marchant, who directed the original New York production, will stage the version at the Broad. The play is written by Mark St. Germain. "Freud's Last Session" has also played in Chicago at the Mercury Theatre.
Cavanagh starred in the NBC comedy series "Ed," while Hirsch is famous for his roles in the sitcom
The Broad's production of "Freud's Last Session" was first announced in April.
