"Tim Burton" is scheduled to open at the
MoMA had stated in the past that Paris would be the last city for the exhibition. Burton recently confirmed to a Times reporter that the show would indeed open in South Korea this month.
The exhibition features several hundred objects created by Burton and his collaborators. It includes drawings that the filmmaker made as a youngster growing up in Burbank and later as a student at the California Institute of the Arts. It also features sets, costumes and other material from his feature films.
The Seoul Museum of Art is a relatively young institution, having opened in 1988. When the Burton exhibition ran at LACMA, it included screenings of all the filmmaker's movies. It remains unclear if the version of the show running in Seoul will also offer screenings.
