The Skinny: The two shows you should be watching are ABC’s “Nashville” and HBO’s “Enlightened.” I’ve liked “Nashville” from the get-go and have come around on “Enlightened.” Laura Dern knows how to play crazy. Wednesday’s headlines include a look at the race for the Oscar for directing, boxer Floyd Mayweather’s big move and how Playboy is making itself over. Also, on a happy note, ABC’s Robin Roberts returned to work Wednesday.

Daily Dose: Tuesday’s Daily Dose noted how Jeep used audio of Al Pacino from the movie any “Any Given Sunday” in its latest commercial. Here’s the back story of how it came together. It was probably the easiest voice-over gig any actor could ever have.

No easy choice. One of the hardest categories to handicap at this year’s Oscars is best director. Among those squaring off are Steven Spielberg for “Lincoln,” David O. Russell for “Silver Linings Playbook” and Ang Lee for “Life of Pi.” Whoever wins, there will also be lots of grumbling about two other directors who were not nominated -- Ben Affleck for “Argo” and Kathryn Bigelow for “Zero Dark Thirty.” Analysis of this highly contested category from the Los Angeles Times. Big blow. Boxer Floyd Mayweather is jettisoning HBO for Showtime. The undefeated fighter has signed a six-fight deal with Showtime that will start this May with a bout against Robert Guerrero. For Showtime, landing Mayweather is a big deal. His fights typically average more than one million pay-per-view buys. Not playing around. New Playboy Enterprises Inc. Chief Executive Scott Flanders -- the first CEO to not have the last name Hefner -- is shaking things up at the adult entertainment company. Gone are the soft-core cable channels, and there are fewer issues of Playboy magazine. The staff has also been greatly reduced. Still, there are plenty of bunnies around and that has caused some headaches. A look at Playboy’s new boss and his plans to reshape the company from the Wall Street Journal.

Making moves. CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien may be the next to exit the cable news channel as new boss Jeff Zucker starts his overhaul of the struggling network. The New York Post says O’Brien is likely to leave her morning slot and CNN as part of Zucker’s makeover of the channel’s AM programming. The paper went on to say that O’Brien had been promised a prime-time spot but so far none has materialized.

Welcome back. “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts returned to work Wednesday after almost six months away for a bone marrow transplant. Entertainment Weekly on Roberts’ first day back on the job.
