TV ratings: CW’s ‘The 100’ is strong in premiere

The CW posted a solid debut for its new post-apocalyptic series “The 100,” which drew 2.7 million viewers, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

That marks CW’s biggest draw in the 9 p.m. Wednesday time period since 2010, as well as its most-watched mid-season premiere since 2010. The 0.9 rating for “The 100” in the key 18-49 demographic equaled the opening of sci-fi series “The Tomorrow People” on the CW in October.

“Arrow” garnered an 0.8 among advertiser-desired 18-to-49-year-olds, up 14% from its last original.

With “Survivor” and crime dramas, CBS won Wednesday night in total viewership and tied Fox in the young-adult demographic as “American Idol” continued to decline, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

CBS’ “Survivor” averaged 9.6 million viewers overall. It earned a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo, down slightly from last week, but still beating “Idol” for the second week in a row. “Criminal Minds” fell a tick to a 2.2 in 18-49, while “C.S.I.,” the night’s most-watched telecast (10.1 million viewers), was flat at a 2.0.

CBS was Wednesday’s most-watched network, with 9.9 million viewers, and scored a 2.2 in 18-49, the same number as Fox.

“American Idol,” in its 13th season, averaged about 9.7 million viewers over two hours, down 4% week-to-week. Its key demo rating fell 8% to a 2.2. “Idol” was Fox’s only original programming in prime time.

ABC showed all reruns, except for its new bar-set comedy “Mixology.” Without a new “Modern Family” as a lead-in, “Mixology” fell 20% from last week to a 1.2 in the demo.

NBC’s lineup declined week-to-week. “Revolution” (1.2) fell 8%, “Law & Order: SVU” (1.5) lost 6% and the recently renewed “Chicago P.D.” (1.4) dropped 13%.
