Oscars 2014: How Jessica Biel acquired that old-Hollywood glam hair

Hair experts predicted tight and neat up ‘dos in order to beat the wet weather, but it seems that actresses on the Oscars red carpet were doing everything but.

With the exception of Amy Adams, who was sporting an almost angular up ‘do with her deep blue Gucci gown, most of the women Sunday night were wearing their hair long, loose and soft with no fear of having the volume deflate because of rain or humidity.

There were plenty of Veronica Lake-inspired side parts and sweeps --- a classic style that seems to pop up at the Oscars every year. Jessica Biel, Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Garner, Cate Blanchett and Naomi Watts were all forgoing the formality of traditional black-tie hair and going with down ‘dos as a dramatic juxtaposition to their designer gowns.

Roszak prepped the actress’ hair while it was still damp, applying L’Oreal Paris Oleo Therapy Perfecting Oil Essence from the middle to end of her hair. She then sprayed the roots with L’Oreal Paris Boost It High Lift Creation Spray.

Roszak made a deep side part and blow-dried Biel’s hair with a boar bristle brush. Once the actress’ hair was blow-dried straight and smooth, she used a curling iron and curled just the ends of hair to give it a bit of bend. She then sprayed L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Sleek It Strand-Smoother Serum Spray all over Biel’s hair.

“Even though the rain had stopped, I finished with the L’Oreal Paris Lock It Weather Control Hairspray to lock in the style and make sure Jessica would not have to worry about anything all night,” Roszak said.
