Golden Globes parties 2015: HBO sees McConaughey, Dunham, Swift, Lorde

At HBO’s party after the 72nd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, the pool area of the Beverly Hilton was draped in blue fabric bearing a Romanesque pattern, rippling in the wind. A-listers mingled under lush palm fronds flanked by a lavish dinner buffet on one side, multiple bars and dessert tables on the other.

Outside, as R&B hits blared from the sound system, guests mingled, effervescent. Presenter Jeremy Renner, Harry Hamlin of “Mad Men” and “Law & Order: SVU,” Mark Duplass, co-creator and star of HBO’s “Togetherness,” and others hung out happily in the courtyard.

Inside the inner sanctum, however, in the party’s dining area, certain A-listers were more laconic.

“Hey Vince!” a bearded Matthew McConaughey yelled as he walked over to Vince Vaughn and gave him a hug.

About the night’s happenings, he was less effusive. “I don’t feel like commenting on the show,” the nominee for “True Detective” said, abruptly. “But it’s all good.” McConaughey had wife Camila Alves on his arm for the awards show.

“We’re not talking, we’re just here to have a fun night,” added Vaughn, who’ll appear in the upcoming “True Detective” season on the cable network.

Steve Zissis of “Togetherness” -- which premiered Sunday on HBO and is about a bunch of middle-aged Hollywood creatives trying to reconcile their dreams and their normal adult lives -- was more chatty.

“All my elementary school friends now want to be friends with me, so that’s a good sign,” he said about his attendance. “My mom thinks I’m as talented as Daniel Day-Lewis, so that’s a good sign; but I’m still awaiting validation from Tom Hanks.”

One flashy group had announced its plans to attend during the show itself: Lena Dunham told Lorde that “Taylor” -- that’d be Ms. Swift -- would meet them at HBO’s shindig.

“Ella! I’ll text you,” the “Girls” star had said, referring to the “Royals” singer by her real first name.

And the ladies delivered. Lorde, Swift, Selena Gomez and Allison Williams were spotted in the vicinity of “50 Shades of Grey” star Jamie Dornan.

The dessert offerings weren’t quite as impressive, at least to one party-goer.

“I’m underwhelmed,” the guest said, perhaps referring to the HBO-branded passion praline snacks on offer. The treats were, of course, gluten-free.
