On the plus side: Connie Britton is in the running for the lead actress in a drama prize for her portrayal of veteran country singer Rayna James.

She’s no less convincing on “Nashville,” playing Juliette Barnes, the pop-wise young starlet who’s been described as a fictional composite of Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. Yet Panettiere was shut out of this year’s nominations.

Panettiere was recognized, in a way, with a nod in the original music and lyrics category for “Nothing in This World Will Ever Break My Heart Again,” a delicate ballad she sang in the Season 1 finale.

The nomination is actually for the song’s writers, Sarah Buxton and Kate York. (Their competition includes tunes from “Smash,” “The Neighbors,” “30 Rock” and the 2012 Tony Awards telecast.)

But it’s Panettiere’s performance that made the song stand out. Listen to it below.
