Amanda Bynes pleads not guilty, does her makeup (for a half-hour)

Amanda Bynes’ attorney entered not guilty pleas on her behalf on two misdemeanor hit-and-run charges Thursday in Van Nuys.

The charges are related to accidents that occurred April 10 and Aug. 4, according to L.A. Now. The former actress’ license — she’s retired now from acting, don’t forget — was suspended Aug. 25 following those incidents and an arrest April 6 on suspicion of DUI.

The hit-and-run case is due back in court Oct. 19, and the 26-year-old has a trial date regarding the DUI on Oct. 29.

Bynes, meanwhile, has been hanging out in New York since last weekend, allegedly because she was tired of being followed by paparazzi in Los Angeles. New York, of course, is also a nifty place to be for someone who says she wants to launch a fashion line.

And what’s she up to in the Big Apple? Apparently continuing to lock herself in small spaces. During a two-hour evening visit to the Little Cupcake Bakeshop in Soho on Wednesday, Bynes locked herself in the bathroom for a half-hour, alarming a firefighter patron when she didn’t respond to him for 15 minutes as he tried to communicate through the door, Celebuzz reported.

A source told the website that police were called regarding an OK to break down the door, but then Bynes emerged as if nothing had happened.

“She just calmly said, ‘Excuse me, I was doing my makeup,’” an eyewitness told Celebuzz.

The incident was similar to the nearly two hours she reportedly spent in a dressing room at West Hollywood boutique Kin, during which time a clerk said banging noises were heard from the room about every 10 minutes. After another employee was called in to help with the situation, TMZ said, Bynes allegedly told both she needed more time.

At least she bought some fashion-y stuff on her way out.
