Amy Poehler credits Jon Hamm with humorously calming her nerves just before she gave birth to her first son, Archie.

Just call Hamm the pregnant woman whisperer. Only he didn’t exactly whisper ...

The “Parks & Recreation” star told the emotional -- yet hilarious -- story during a panel at BookCon in New York last Friday, laying out how the “Mad Men” actor wouldn’t let her spoil his first time hosting “Saturday Night Live” back when she was a regular in 2008, Vulture reported.

And by spoil, we mean he told the distraught star to get her “[something we can’t print here] together” in order to put on their elaborate “Mad Men”-inspired sketch.

“I did the sketch, I was shooting with Hamm on Friday, and I called my doctor because at the end there you kind of have to call in every day, and the receptionist was crying. I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ and she said, ‘Oh, he passed away last night,’” Poehler recounted.

“I was due the next day. So it’s my first kid, I’m in a ‘Mad Men’ outfit, I turn to everybody and I hysterically start crying, and a really pregnant woman crying is terrifying. So, juicy tears just like squirting out of my eyes. And it was like the punch line to a joke, it’s like, my doctor just died and I’m due tomorrow.

“And Jon Hamm, who I am just getting to know, comes over and puts his hands on my shoulder and is like, ‘This is a really important show for me. I’m gonna need you to get your [expletive] together.’ And I laughed so hard, I probably peed myself,” she said. “I believe that going through crying to laughing adds like five years to your life.”

The delightfully funny 42-year-old weaves similar yarns in her upcoming memoir, “Yes Please,” which will hit stores Oct. 28.

The Golden Globe-winning actress also addresses her lengthy split from “Arrested Development” star Will Arnett, whom she was married to for nine years. The actors have two sons together, Archie Emerson, 5, and Abel James, 3, and announced their separation in September 2012. Arnett only filed for divorce just this April.

“I don’t really talk about it because I have a real respect for my ex-husband and the father of my children, and I also don’t like people knowing my ...,” Poehler colorfully told the blog. “But I do write about, going through something, you get such a perspective, and one of the things I write about is ... the books I would now like to write about divorce.”
