Chelsea Clinton and hubby Marc Mezvinsky became parents and Bill and Hillary Clinton became grandparents with the birth of a baby girl on Friday

“Marc and I are full of love, awe and gratitude as we celebrate the birth of our daughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky,” the new mom, 34, posted on Twitter around 11:30 p.m. New York time.

No more details have been released yet about Charlotte’s physical stats or the specific time and place of her birth.

Hillary Clinton tweeted a picture Saturday of herself and the former president cradling the wee newborn. He’d canceled a Saturday fundraiser for Democratic candidates in Denver, presumably to meet his granddaughter, ABC News reported.

Chelsea Clinton, who left her NBC job in late August to concentrate on the Clinton Foundation and motherhood, announced the pregnancy during a Clinton Foundation event in New York City in April. Her mother, the former secretary of State and possible 2016 presidential hopeful, was at her side for the announcement.

With actress America Ferrera moderating at the event that focused on young women and girls’ success, the then-mother-to-be told the audience, “I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child — hopefully children — as my mom was to me.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton told People in June, “I want to babysit every chance I get!”

Mezvinsky, 36, an investment banker, married the former first daughter in an interfaith ceremony July 2010 in New York. They became a couple 2005 and got engaged in 2009. They’d met in Washington, D.C., as teens and gotten to knew each other better while they both attended Stanford University.
