Chris Pratt throws a wild first pitch, serenades crowd at Cubs game

Share

Chris Pratt threw a wild ceremonial first pitch to open the Chicago Cubs’ game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.

But he’s Chris Pratt, which this summer has translated into Golden Boy With a Permanent Get Out of Jail Free card, so a sheepish smile and a shrug of the shoulders from the actor afterward immediately erased that bounce outside the batter’s box from the world’s collective memory.

Sure, there’s video of the pitch online, and you can see where the ball went, but more important: Dang did Pratt look terrific throwing the ball. That’s probably how a pitch should be thrown -- the world just doesn’t know it yet.

In any case, he’s still better than 50 Cent.

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” leading man was back entertaining the crowd during the seventh-inning stretch, delivering “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” as only fans can truly appreciate (check it out, above).

Thursday night saw Pratt at Garth Brooks’ concert in Rosemont, Ill., just east of Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the “Jurassic World” star has been in the Chicago area on location for the final season of “Parks and Recreation,” shooting scenes around town with series costars Aziz Ansari and Natalie Morales.

One of the locations was, the Chicago Tribune reported, right outside Wrigley field, home of the Cubs.
