‘iZombie’ Season 2 trailer introduces a whole new set of brains ... to eat

The CW has released a trailer for the upcoming season of “iZombie” and Liv wants a piece of your brain. And things appear to be returning to the status zombie quo, despite the big Season 1 finale.

Loosely based on the comic book series of the same name created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, “iZombie” follows Olivia “Liv” Moore (played by Rose McIver), a former medical resident turned coroner’s assistant after her bright future was derailed when she found herself turned into a zombie who needs to eat brains to maintain her humanity.

The career move takes advantage of her new state and newfound abilities -- when she eats the brains she experiences flashes of memories of the deceased contained within the brain, which allows her to help the Seattle Police Department solve crimes.

An additional side effect of feeding on these brains is that she temporarily takes on the personality and quirks of the deceased as well. And the new trailer showcases some of the many personalities Liv will apparently absorb in the second season.

As the trailer reveals, “iZombie” sets itself apart from other comic book-based TV shows returning this fall, being neither dark (and violent), nor about superheroes.

The second season of “iZombie” is set for an Oct. 6 premiere.
