Oscars: @TheAcademy announces dates for 2016, 2017 and 2018 shows

Mark your calendars: The next three Oscars will take place Feb. 28, 2016; Feb. 26, 2017; and March 4, 2018.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC announced the dates Thursday.

Although the Oscars typically take place in February, the 2018 ceremony seems to be waiting until March to avoid competing with the 2018 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Feb. 9-25.

The 2014 Oscars were similarly scheduled for the first weekend in March, dodging the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

The academy also announced some key dates for the upcoming Oscar season: Nominations voting will run Dec. 30, 2015-Jan. 8, 2016; nominations will be announced Jan. 14; and final voting will take place Feb. 13-23.

The 2016 Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and air on ABC.
