The Stone Roses release ‘All For One,’ their first single in 22 years

The last time L.A. heard from The Stone Roses, they co-headlined Coachella to divided opinions. But now the group has its first new single in 22 years, and it’s likely to revive some of that old Madchester magic.

Fans suspected a new flurry of Roses material when posters depicting the band’s lemon logo began appearing in it hometown of Manchester, England. “All For One” should hit them right in those same pleasure centers.

It’s a bit bluesy, dreamy and narcotic, but with strong rock edges that make a good case for the band’s continued prowess. It’s a testament to their talents that so much time has elapsed since they last released new material, and they can still sound exactly like themselves.

There’s no word yet on news of a forthcoming full length, which would be their first since 1994’s “Second Coming.” The Stone Roses also have not yet revealed any L.A. tour dates, though the band is scheduled to play Madison Square Garden on June 30.

But if we must be continually reviving all things ‘90s, a good new Stone Roses album would be a great addition.
