The band hasn’t specified the venue, but Arcade Fire said Tuesday it will play a concert in Los Angeles at an outdoor location on Oct. 29, the same day its highly anticipated new album, “Reflektor,” is due in stores.

The show is part of MTV and Intel’s so-called Music Experiment; tickets are available in a contest that appears to require interested parties to “make Reflektor art out of your old CDs,” according to the Music Experiment website. (One might also need to fork over some social-media information.)

Arcade Fire is ramping up activity ahead of “Reflektor,” which follows the band’s Grammy-winning 2010 album “The Suburbs” and was co-produced by the group with Markus Dravs and James Murphy.

Last month it performed in its Montreal hometown and on “Saturday Night Live,” and this week the group is expected to play two shows in Brooklyn, N.Y. On Oct. 26 Arcade Fire will take part in Neil Young’s annual Bridge School benefit concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Queens of the Stone Age and Diana Krall are also on that bill.
