Completist collectors of Billy Corgan’s ouvre are about to take a sizable hit in the wallet.

The Smashing Pumpkins singer announced a very limited run of a new double LP, “AEGEA,” that compiles a set of ambient and experimental music he recorded in 2007. It comes after the singer-guitarist began hosting a successful run of experimental music performances at his Chicago-area tea shop Madame ZuZu’s.

The LP will be released in a private pressing and is limited to 250 hand-numbered copies. The bad news? It’ll set you back $59.95 (extra for shipping). You can also pick it up at ZuZu’s if you happen to be in the area.

The LP is set for release in six to eight weeks. Corgan described the sound of the LP on the Pumpkins’ website, taking pains to note it’s very different from the Pumpkins’ heavy guitar thrash.

“As a work, AEGEA is experimental in nature, and comes across as more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with,” he wrote. “Listening back I quite like how AEGEA goes along, as it has qualities that are both meditative and alien; but not alienating.”
