Kris Kristofferson tops June 23 benefit for Homeboy Industries
Homeboy Industries, the operation started by Father Greg Boyle to help provide gang members and at-risk youth with jobs and a way out of troubled lives, will get an assist June 23 from singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson, who will play a benefit in Malibu in conjunction with the organization’s 25th anniversary.
The acclaimed composer of “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and “For the Good Times,” among other songs, will headline the Hope Has an Address Concert at Pepperdine University’s Smothers Theatre. The concert also will feature singer and songwriter John Flynn, and all proceeds will go to Homeboy Industries.
Kristofferson, who has a long record as a social and political activist, said in a statement, “It’s an honor for me to share my talent with an organization such as Homeboy Industries and its cause of advancing the lives of thousands of young men and women who have made the decision to better their lives.”
Tickets are $45 to $75, with VIP packages being offered at $250, and are on sale now. They can be purchased at the Smothers Theatre box office, by phone at (310) 506-4522 or online at the Pepperdine Center for the Arts.
