After establishing itself in Chicago and South America, Lollapalooza has booked its first European edition.

The next expansion of the popular music festival will land at the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin on Sept. 12-13.

“I’m extremely excited to finally bring Lollapalooza across the pond to Europe,” festival founder Perry Farrell said in a statement. “Berlin’s energy, vibrant art, fashion and music scenes are a mirror reflection of what Lollapalooza is all about and I can’t wait to share in this cultural exchange.”

No lineup has been announced for the Berlin festival yet. Lollapalooza’s organizers will be collaborating with Festival Republic, the group that produces the Reading and Leeds festivals in Britain.

Founded by Farrell in the ‘90s as a traveling tour, the genre-spanning fest reestablished itself in Chicago’s Grant Park and later grew to include Chile, Argentina and Brazil versions. Chicago’s 2014 lineup included headliners Eminem, OutKast, Kings of Leon and Skrillex.

Farrell picked an appropriate Berlin site for the festival, which unlike many others of its size and caliber, always takes place in central urban areas. Tempelhof was one of Europe’s most iconic transit facilities (and a former Nazi stronghold), and later was repurposed into one of Berlin’s most internationally renowned public recreational spaces.
