It may be only rock ‘n’ roll to the Rolling Stones, but the group’s clout in that world is sufficient that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland is renaming its American Music Masters series so that the British group can be the 2013 honoree.

The Stones, the subject of the Rock Hall’s current exhibit “The Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction,” will be saluted during a week of lectures, films, exhibits, a major conference and other activities culminating in an Oct. 26 tribute concert featuring numerous musicians who have played with the Stones over the years, along with expected high-profile guests still to be named. The American Music Masters series accordingly will now be called the Annual Music Masters series.

“We are very excited to expand the stories we tell in the Music Masters program,” Lauren Onkey, the Rock Hall’s vice president of education and public programs, said in a statement Thursday. “Rock ‘n’ roll caught fire around the world, and we want to reflect that in this program. The Rolling Stones were inspired by so many great American artists in creating their own original brand of rock and roll -- it’s an incredible story. We have an outstanding band to showcase the music of the Stones.”

Among those scheduled to take part in the concert are Ian McLagan, Lisa Fischer, Bernard Fowler, Bobby Keys, Trevor Lawrence, Steve Madaio, Ivan Neville, Waddy Wachtel and Willie Weeks, and others will be announced closer to the event. Tickets will range from $30 to $80 and will be available to Rock Hall members beginning Sept. 16. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Sept. 18, and will be available only at www.playhousesquare.org.

“The museum is proud to be honoring the Rolling Stones during their 50th anniversary year,” the Hall’s president and chief executive, Greg Harris, said in the same statement. “We will take this opportunity to dig deeper into the story of this groundbreaking band that challenged and changed the face of rock ‘n’ roll.”

More information is available at www.rockhall.org. The “50 Years of Satisfaction” exhibit opened May 24 and is scheduled to run through March 2014.
