Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jeff Bridges is being honored this week by the American Cinematheque’s Aero Theatre.

Bridges is scheduled to appear Saturday at the screenings of his latest film, “Crazy Heart,” for which he’s won critics’ honors. Also screening will be his iconic turn as the Dude in the Coen brothers’ 1998 “The Big Lebowski.”

On tap for Sunday is 1984’s Starman,” for which he received his first lead actor Oscar nomination for playing an alien -- think of it as a very adult “E.T.” Rounding out the bill is Terry Gilliam’s 1991 film, “The Fisher King.”

The festival concludes Wednesday with Ivan Passer’s underrated 1981 thriller “Cutter’s Way” and 1974’s “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot,” Michael Ciminio’s offbeat heist film for which Bridges earned a supporting actor Oscar nomination, stealing the film from star Clint Eastwood.

The Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre presents its Fifth Annual Focus on Female Directors tonight. The shorts program features films from Oscar nominees, music video directors, documentary filmmakers and more.

Among the shorts featured are Jane Campion’s 1982 Palme d’Or-winning “Peel”; Janet Grillo’s 2008 “Flying Lessons; and Alice Guy Blaché’s 1913 silent, “The Thief.” Several of the filmmakers will be there to discuss their work.

As my colleague, film critic Kenneth Turan, notes above, Jean-Paul Belmondo, the face of France’s New Wave cinema, is being honored this weekend at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The 76-year-old actor will be in attendance at the Leo S. Bing Theater on Friday for the screening of Francois Truffaut’s “Mississippi Mermaid,” the 1969 thriller that also stars Catherine Deneuve.

Rounding out the retrospective Saturday is Jean-Luc Godard’s 1965 “Pierre Le Fou and Alain Resnais’ 1974 “Stavisky.” lacma.org
