‘Amazing World of Gumball’ renewed for two more seasons

Unless you have kids, you may not have heard of Cartoon Network’s “The Amazing World of Gumball,” but among its target audience the show is a huge hit. So big that Cartoon Network has picked it up for two more seasons.

The series, which combines 2-D and 3-D animation, is currently airing its third season. The renewal takes it through a fifth season.

“Gumball’s” second season was ranked No. 1 in kids 6-11 in its time slot and has won an Annie Award for best animated TV production for children as well as five BAFTA Children’s Awards.

The series follows the adventures of Gumball, a 12-year-old blue cat, and his best friend, a goldfish named Darwin, as they travel to a new town with a family of bunnies that includes a stay-at-home-dad bunny and a 4-year-old genius bunny.

“Gumball” is the creation of English animator Ben Bocquelet and is produced at Cartoon Network’s EMEA studio in London.
