Is Sharon Osbourne leaving ‘America’s Got Talent’?
Celebrity judge exits happen in threes now? It looks like Sharon Osbourne is ready to leave her post on “America’s Got Talent.”
She put the handwriting on the virtual wall, taking to Twitter on Tuesday. In addressing her “darling” fellow judge Howard Stern, Osbourne tweeted, “money is not the reason I’m not returning” to the show. She continued: “it’s because ...” -- but did not offer a reason.
The talent competition series, now in its seventh season, recently added Stern to the lineup following the departure of Piers Morgan. In doing so, the series made the move from Los Angeles to New York. Sources say Osbourne is under contract for three more seasons.
Scaling back on her TV presence has been something the 59-year-old TV personality has considered in the past. Last year she took on a limited presense on “The Talk” to spend more time with her husband. And her personal pulls have increased lately with the recent announcement that son, Jack, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
NBC said Osbourne had not informed it that she planned to leave.
If Osbourne follows through with her tweet, she’d be part of a mass exodus (in relative terms) of celebrity judges. Fox’s “American Idol” has seen the departures of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.
Osbourne’s publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
