‘Yeah, baby!’: ‘Conan’ mocks local news jokes about Mike Myers’ baby

It’s been 16 years since “Austin Powers” was released in theaters (go ahead and take a minute to process that; we’ll wait) and yet it’s nearly impossible to resist his catchphrase, “Yeah, baby!” -- at least, that is, if you’re a local news anchor.

Mike Myers, the actor who played the snaggle-toothed English spy in the hugely popular comedy franchise, recently announced that he and his wife are expecting their second child. Across the country, local news producers were apparently unable to resist the temptation to make an easy pun.

On Thursday’s “Conan,” host Conan O’Brien unveiled a montage of dozens of anchors making the exact same joke, with many of them trying and failing spectacularly at an English accent. As groaningly predictable as each individual “Yeah baby!” joke is, somehow edited together, the effect is magic, proving that sometimes the whole truly is much greater than the sum of its parts.

To the poor, exhausted intern who probably had to spend hours finding all these clips: America thanks you.
