Brooke Burke-Charvet launches activewear line
Brooke Burke-Charvet is planning to meet customers at Nordstrom at the Grove on Saturday to celebrate the launch of her new athletic and lifestyle apparel brand Caelum.
The line includes performance tops, sweat pants, pull-overs and sports bras that promise style and comfort during workouts. Caelum is an acronym for words that define the brand: core, active, evolve, live, uplift and motivate.
Saturday’s event begins at noon and is to include a 15-minute Body Burn class taught by Burke-Charvet. The former “Dancing With the Stars” co-host will also meet customers and autograph photos.
It will take place on the second floor of Nordstrom at the Grove, 189 The Grove Drive. For more information, call the women’s active wear department at (310) 276-7500.

Figue, the New York-based gypset lifestyle collection founded by Stephanie von Watzdorf -- former vice president for design at Tory Burch -- is set to open its first West Coast location Wednesday with a pop-up shop at 1301 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. The 1,300-square-foot space will offer women’s ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, jewelry, shoes and more. The shop plans to be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Premium T-shirt brand Junk Food Clothing Co. has opened its first flagship, at 1103 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. The store features women’s, men’s and children’s designs. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Sumi’s, the hand-made gift shop, is celebrating its ninth anniversary and the grand opening of its new location with a party from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday including nibbles from the Gastronomico food truck, sweets from Sweet Nothings Cake Shop, tunes by DJ Goodwill, drinks, discounts and a raffle. The shop is at 1812 N. Vermont Ave. in Los Feliz.
Warby Parker has opened a new showroom featuring the entire range of Warby Parker eyewear inside Alchemy Works, at 826 E. 3rd St., Los Angeles. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. daily.
Forever 21 has opened a new concept store called F21 Red at the Azalea Shopping Center, 4881 Firestone Blvd., South Gate. The store offers men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories plus cosmetics and Forever 21’s lingerie and shoe lines.
Sample sales
Genetic Denim has scheduled a sample sale from 8:30 a.m. 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 1013 S. Los Angeles St., ninth floor, Los Angeles. Items will be priced $25-$35.
