Swarovski launches ‘Romeo and Juliet’ jewelry at the Grove

Share

Come October, a new generation of young lovers will bring “Romeo and Juliet” to the big screen in Julian Fellowes’ adaptation of the Shakespeare classic. This time the young couple will be played by Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth, with a cast including Paul Giamatti as Friar Laurence, Stellan Skarsgard as the Prince of Verona and Damian Lewis as Lord Capulet.

The film, directed by Carlo Carlei and set to open in the U.S. on Oct. 11, is the first offering from Swarovski Entertainment, a new venture by the jewelry company whose principals figured that since Swarovski jewelry is often used in films, the company might as well get into film production. (A company FAQ calls it “a natural evolution.”)

It will come as no surprise that Swarovski is offering a “Romeo and Juliet” collection of jewelry in conjunction with the movie. It includes a knot ring like the one Romeo gives Juliet in the film, heart and star pendants, earrings shaped like daggers and rose gold bangles.

The jewelry is to be introduced next week exclusively at Swarovski at the Grove in Los Angeles before rolling out nationally on Sept. 30. From 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, costumes from the film will be on display at the Swarovski boutique. Customers can shop the collection beginning that day.

Prior to the event, customers who come into the store from Saturday through 5 p.m. Monday will have a chance to win two tickets to the “Romeo and Juliet” premiere if they mention the contest.

Prices for the jewelry are under $200 – well below what Romeo and Juliet pay for their true love.

The Grove is at 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles.
