First SI swimsuit cover model Babette shares tips

Former model Babette loves living “off the grid,” as she puts it on her website. But that doesn’t mean, ever, letting herself go.

On the subject, she says:

Philosophy: “It’s important to keep up appearances, even when no one is looking.”

Exercise: “A body in motions stays in motion.” Her friend Kathryn Moore attests that Babette routinely walks five miles a day.

Skin: She likes a sun-kissed look but tans easily, so doesn’t overdo it.

Beauty products: “What I can find in the drugstore, nothing expensive, whatever works.” Really? “I swear by glycolic acid, and Elta MD 40 and Nano Silver Pink facial cleanser I get on the Internet.” (The latter two products sell for about $25 each.)

Diet: “I only eat the best or I don’t eat.”

More philosophy: “Everything in moderation, and I mean everything.”

Makeup/hair: “You’d better learn to do your own.”

Style: “When you get older, less is more.”

Anti-aging: “Don’t stop taking your hormones.”

And philosophy again: “Don’t go out without looking your best. You never know who is going to see you.”
